May 2006: Ashling support for ARC^TM 700 Core Applications

Limerick, Ireland, May 2006: Ashling Microsystems announces support for the ARC^TM 700 core family in the Ashling Opella-ARC debugging platform. The Ashling Opella-ARC JTAG probe operates with ARC's SeeCode Debugger, ARCangel boards and ARC customer boards to provide a comprehensive debugging platform for ARC applications.

The ARC^TM 700 family of configurable cores combines a powerful 32-bit CPU and a full-featured DSP engine in a unified architecture. ARC 700 cores have the computing power to meet the needs of the most demanding SoC tasks, like graphics, media codecs and packet processing.

Opella-ARC supports a USB connection to the host PC allowing high-speed communication to the target, for both code download and FPGA programming. The developer has full control of the JTAG communication clock and is offered a choice of JTAG clock speeds for debug-communications to the target ARC core.
