Ashling, a member of the OpenHW Group and a leading supplier of high-performance embedded software and hardware development tools, presented debug solutions for the CORE-V family of RISC-V cores in OpenHW Group TV Episode 3 on 20th August 2020.
The presentation included details on two development solutions for CORE-V: Ashling’s proprietary commercial solution RiscFree™ IDE and the freely available, CORE-V dedicated CORE-V IDE.
RiscFree™ IDE, Ashling’s professional, commercial-grade software development environment, includes support for CORE-V based devices. The Eclipse-based IDE for RISC-V development provides a seamless environment from writing and building code to simulating and hardware debugging. It also supports heterogeneous debug for other 32/64-bit architectures such as Arm and ARC processors, and can be used with Ashling’s Opella-XD hardware debug probe.
Ashling is also a contributor to the OpenHW CORE-V ecosystem and is currently working on the development of the freely available CORE-V IDE. This IDE, developed by the OpenHW Group, is dedicated to CORE-V devices and delivered with “ready-to-run” examples for the Digilent GENESYS2 FPGA platform.
With these offerings, developers working with CORE-V devices have a choice between RiscFree™ IDE and CORE-V IDE, alongside a strong ecosystem of tools from multiple OpenHW Group members.
