Limerick, Ireland | June 18th, 2026. Ashling Microsystems welcomes GlobalFoundries’ completion of the acquisition of the Synopsys Processor IP Solutions business and the expansion of the MIPS portfolio to include ARC processor IP and software tools.
For Ashling, this reflects the growing convergence of processor IP, software tools, and custom silicon, and reinforces Ashling’s position as an embedded tools partner already supporting both MIPS and ARC architecture environments.
Ashling’s portfolio includes IDEs, compilers, debuggers, SDK capability, debug and trace solutions, and hardware probes supporting development across MIPS, ARC, and the RISC V ISA. This includes RiscFree, Ashling’s SDK and development environment, together with Ashling’s probe technology, helping customers from software development through silicon bring up, validation, and deployment.
Ashling also supports pre-silicon debug on emulation platforms, including JTAG over IP and IJTAG based access, extending debug and trace capability earlier into the development cycle.
“Ashling is well positioned for this next phase of the market,” said Hugh O’Keeffe, CEO of Ashling Microsystems. “We already support both MIPS and ARC related development flows, and we see clear value in helping customers with coherent IDE, compiler, debugger, SDK, debug, trace, bring up, and validation capability across increasingly complex processor and silicon environments.”
With MIPS and ARC now brought together under GlobalFoundries, Ashling sees opportunities to support customers across a broader portfolio spanning high performance compute, embedded processing, and custom silicon. Ashling believes this is especially relevant where standard tools are not enough and where integration, support, and validation determine programme success.
Ashling remains committed to supporting and improving its MIPS and ARC capabilities and to helping customers move efficiently from development to validation and production deployment.
